Learning F# to catch up with PDC09

November 11, 2009

PDC 2008 was bold and beautiful with deep technical talks. I missed few things to catch when it came to changes in C# in support for functional and DSL (domain specific language) programming  or Language Oriented Programming. Cloud computing reamined a lesson to learn however I kept updated for parallel programming changes.

Before the PDC 2009 starts, I decided to teach myself to understand F# language.
What if you get set of problem to not only brain-teasers but also to test your programming skills. I started solving Euler’s  problem however I have a slow start.

Hop over Chris Smith’s blog  or Don Dyme’s blog (Both worked for F# language and wrote book on F#) and blue eyed links here-there to land proper F# resources. (http://blogs.msdn.com/chrsmith/default.aspx)

To discover your purpose of life try this approach

September 14, 2007

There is nothing wrong trying this. So many people are living to know the answer and so many people die without knowing this. Atleast you will be the among one who tried to resolve the author’s purpose who put this idea. Not funny. Ok, I have not yet. I will it a chance.
In case link dies before you keep living a purposeless life here is the steps to follow. The before and after text of the steps are to motivate you to follow and then to make you believe not to disappoint if in case you found that you are the KEY-MAKER (like the Matrix dude).
Steps:

Here’s what to do:

  1. Take out a blank sheet of paper or open up a word processor where you can type (I prefer the latter because it’s faster).
  2. Write at the top, “What is my true purpose in life?”
  3. Write an answer (any answer) that pops into your head. It doesn’t have to be a complete sentence. A short phrase is fine.
  4. Repeat step 3 until you write the answer that makes you cry. This is your purpose.

wisdom and intelligence relation

March 20, 2007

There is, there is difference between between Wisdom and Intelligence. It was interesting digg to this article/essay by Paul Graham.
The general definition of the two words fetched by dictionary is:
Wisdom: 1. Accumulated knowledge or erudition or enlightenment
            2. The trait of utilizing knowledge and experience with common sense and insight
            3. Ability to apply knowledge or experience or understanding or common sense and insight

Intelligent: 1. Having the capacity for thought and reason especially to a high degree
                2. Exercising or showing good judgment

The second definition of the wisdom and the first definition of the Intelligence word fits to the essay.
In brief (IMO), wisdom is using your disciplined knowledge at any occasion and with average success rate.  Whereas, intelligence  although genetic has high success rate at fairly little occasions.

I started thinking about relation between Intelligence and Creativity two years back. I fell into understanding of human mind and behavior and never came out of that to complete my main thinking. Now, totally out of the thinking business I think more and more about carrier and temporal technologies. The time rules everywhere.

Its alright to fall into and out of time. And why? Its another digg (thinking subject).

productivity’ and ‘efficiency’ are up, effectiveness is down

February 14, 2007

I liked this partial sentence “productivity’ and
‘efficiency’ are up, effectiveness is down”. I want to deep think (deep fry) this.

courage or foolishness

December 15, 2006

Was just going thru the interview of Ken Goldberg a leading robotics scientist and found this conversation interesting.

"
What do you see as the core of creativity in both of these realms? Is
it self-confidence, freedom, all of those things? What makes it come together,
and is it the same in both these two worlds?

It’s an interesting question. I went through a sort of writer’s-block period
recently and I experienced an inability to come up with anything new. It was
really upsetting and frustrating, and I couldn’t find a way out of it. And
then it kind of just lifted. So, I don’t know what that thing is that just
allows you to come up with something new. I think largely it has to do with
a certain amount of nonconformity. The point is to look at the way the crowd
is going and start thinking, “Well, what if I go the other way?” And
that, again, is common to both engineering and art.

So, courage really, even though you...

Courage or foolishness, I don’t know.

Well, sometimes they go together.

Yes. There’s a certain idiosyncratic way of thinking, approaching the world.
It sometimes can lead you into trouble, and some people get beaten down by
that. The trick is a little bit of luck combined with that tendency to make
it pay off in certain cases. Then you get more confidence, and that leads
to more idiosyncratic behavior.

This word “courage” has a great meaning to my current analytical phase of life and sometimes you get treated unexpectedly as a behavior of “foolishness”.
hmm. But its Alright to move on.

alright for the day!!

November 28, 2006

I dont know; whaaaay whaaaay, these lazy days makes me cry.
Just feeling bored. I know it should not happen but it is happening beyond control.
May be some target with killer deadline may restart things in better way.

For a single task, I am thinking to do it in five different ways. Two way is what I can do right now. Not so innovative idea but to find work inside work to keep working.

Weekly update

July 15, 2006

This writing is personal one and just I want myself to be reminded by the last week’s happening.

Last week was the busiest and if now looking back, I see I made it myself. I was enhancing a simple program that if planned would have been finished in 2 days or may be in 3 days. (1 day of planning, 1/2 day of serious coding, 1/2 day of technical doc and 1 day of full testing). I took whole 8 days and bit messed it at last just to push out from my list.

This baby application is quite simple but can effect the parent application badly and hence failure will affect many end-users. My released program has been sent back for change with few very good concerns.

Next Thing…

July 8, 2006

Alright!!

The next thing I did after creating this profile is, to import my old blog entries from LJ and Blogger.

WordPress directly provides feature to import blogger's rss feed by logging-in to blogger, while it does support
importing and formatting lj entries but it requires lj feeds to be saved as XML to the desktop.

For me, exporting LJ feed did not work and hence only imported blogger entries.

Then, I downloaded Zoundry, a desktop blog editor, this I had to do as
Semagic is fixed to be used for
LJ only. Zoundry looks ok but not so impressive as editor sets paragraph size so much by itself and no feature to
change, that's what I see.
And, now I am not able to publish this writing, bcoz this tool is not able to connect to wordpress. Will figure out later.

Anyway, It's Alright!!

My first post to wordpress

July 8, 2006

Alright!! I am making my first post to this blog site and you are not first one to read it.
I have been writing blogs since yr 2004 but got bored after one year and stopped.

In between, created many accounts to different blog sites and tried to write something different each time but failed.

I wrote about self, about happenings around, about technology and my maturing view to that, about some news that I felt interesting and sometimes I just put some images.

Now what? Still to figure out what I will write, but I really feel good writing anything.
I like writing and so I am here. I am sure slowly I will figure out what I should write. Ok. That’s how things work if you keep going.

I have one public blog, which I feel to join someday.

So, finally this post is about me and my blog. :) .
Alright!!
